甩柜是在进出口、海运物流等行业非常流行的术语，在海运旺季，由于货量较大、舱位有限，船公司为保证船能满载，开始往往确认满载量120%以上的货能够按时运输。而一旦出现舱位不够，即海运界所谓的"爆舱"，船公司就会拒绝多余20%左右的那些运费较低、与其关系一般的托运人的货物装船，将这些货留滞到下一个或几个航次，而船公司对此不负任何责任。
